Tea Time Gossip- Spring is in the Air

Can you even believe that yesterday was the first day of Spring?

It is such a magical time of year. I love how nature simply unfolds and comes alive right before our eyes.

We are starting to see some beautiful weather here in South Carolina, and all the trees now have swollen buds or fresh baby leaves!

Anyways, I would like to welcome you all to my Tea Time Gossip series. Here you will find all kinds of gossip on the latest home trends, recipes and inspiration I have found on the web. I also will share with you a behind the scene look at my life when I am not blogging and any of my upcoming projects in the making.

So make yourself a nice cup of tea, maybe a small treat to go with it and join me!

Today, I am drinking a herbal peppermint tea by Stash. There is a bit of a cold running through our house and I always enjoy how soothing peppermint tea feels on my throat.

I have paired it with some vegan/Dairy free chocolate chunk cookies by Sweet Lorens. My daughter has a lot of food restrictions and this cookie dough is great to have in the freezer when you need a quick goodie. We have tried almost all of them and love!

The china is a tea and saucer set from my great grandmother. I imagine she must be happy to see that they are not just collecting dust, but being enjoyed. If you love antique tea sets like myself, than you will also enjoy my post on How to Style an Afternoon Tea tray, where I use a Lusterware tea set of my great grandmothers too.

What Have I Been Up to Lately?

I thought you would never ask!

Well we have been lucky enough to have had a couple nice weeks here in South Carolina. Very spring like weather. So I took the opportunity to squeeze in some extra Lily bulbs into the ground.

It is a good thing I took advantage of that weather when I did, because as I sit here and write this post, we are having a bit of a cold front. Woke up to frost on the ground.

Been busy visiting our little neighborhood friends.

We have a small man made pond in our development and I love to go for walks there. Tons of ducks have made the pond their home. We also have many other visitors such as Great Egrets, Blue Herons, Geese and Sandpipers too.

It is a wonderful walk if you enjoy nature. A lot of times me and the kids will feed the ducks a mixture of fresh spinach, frozen peas and beans.

So proud of my husband! Wanted to give him is own feature in my blog. I think always helping me with crazy DIY projects is starting to rub off on him.

Two years ago the fabric seats to our bench swing had torn off. We kept the frame and it was put on the back burner. But just last weekend my husband surprised me by building a new wood seat and back. I am so thrilled!

I love swinging on my bench swing, while my kids play and my gardens grow. It is such a great place to daydream with a nice cup of tea of course.

A Behind the Scene Look at Upcoming Projects

I have been wanting some stone window box planters for this year, but not to impressed with the prices of them. So I picked up two plastic window boxes and I plan on turning them into stone. This will be much more affordable! I will share my technique and tutorial soon enough. In the meantime you go to my Creating Aged Vases to learn about several ways to change the consistency basic paint to create different effects.

Coffee table or bench? I guess it could work as both. Leave it to the eyes of the beholder! I picked up this piece last year from my neighbor’s trash. It is old wood and in mint condition, so I was shocked she was just tossing it out. And since I have a very hard time watching furniture go to the dumpster, I had to save it. Slowly it has finally made its way near the top of my to do list. Excited to update. How will I use it? You will have to wait and see.

Another project from last year that finally is on my radar to finish. I picked up this dinning set last year on Facebook Marketplace. As you can see I have painted almost all the chairs, but two. One of those chairs is badly damaged, and I had to partner with an expert for advice on how to repair. That expert is the extremely talented Cindy from Reinvented Delaware. I am excited to share her advice and this beautiful dining set soon with you.

My Latest and Greatest

Speaking about Facebook marketplace, that is exactly where I bought my beautiful China Cabinet from. Though there was nothing beautiful about it when we got it home to my house. Lets just say it had to stay in the garage for a while because it had house guests. For a very entertaining story and fairy tale ending to this China Cabinet, visit my post; New life to an Antique China cabinet.

Nothing beats the feeling of a room refresh! We just recently finished updating our living room and it feels so good to be in there. It is our New White Living Room Reveal with Brick Accent Wall. And that is just the last part to a much bigger update, that all started with a painted mirror. Come see the difference from before to now, as I share some older pictures from 5 years ago.

As I had mentioned, I am so excited for Spring. I truly love everything about this season.

So I have been super busy every week coming up with Spring DIY decor ideas to share with you. I just recently made an Easter Egg Tree with Decoupaged Eggs. It has to be one of the easiest vignettes I have ever put together. Check it out! If these cute eggs and hummingbirds do not scream Spring to you, I do not know what will!

You may need a DIY birds nest to pair up with your Easter egg tree. Luckily for you I have a tutorial on how to make one. I used willow tree branches from my own yard and made it as realistic as one crafted from the birds themselves. Visit my post on An Easy to make Bird’s Nest.

Walk My Yard….

I love to walk my yard everyday. It is not a big backyard, but I am always discovering something new. Nature is filled with surprises! So for those green thumbs and nature enthusiasts out there, this segment is for you.

Flowered bushes in my front yard.

Signs of Spring are making their debut in our yard and it is wonderful!

Our young pear tree is beginning to bloom. The white blossoms are so beautiful. I can hardly wait for the whole tree to be made up of all white flowers.

As things began to warm up, little green lizards began to appear everywhere. My son loves to follow and try to catch them. Keeps him busy for hours. We actually have a couple that live in our porch. I do not mind because they eat all the small pests. So I would say we coexist pretty well together.

Spring Flavors

Are you food inspired? I am a big time foodie right here! I love to cook and discover new recipes and flavors to make my taste buds go crazy. Here is one that caught my eye!

These delicious looking rollups are called Tantuni and are a Turkish street food staple. Easy to make and very healthy. You can learn all about the origins of this Turkish delight and the recipe at Food Nutters.

He did such a good job on the swing. I sit every morning and at the end of every day. I guess if you had one, you would probably have to do the same or it would be to hot. Thanks for visiting.
