How to Style An Afternoon Tea Tray
Today I will be joining Katherine, from Katherine’s Corner for one of her famous tray blog hops.
If you are new to my blog, let me give you a little backstory here. There are about 20 of us ladies who get together from time to time to create fun themed trays. And you have access to view them all! This time around the theme was to create a tea tray!

Hop Along!
If you have just found your way over from my friend MaryJo at Master “Pieces” of my Life, I thank you so much for continuing down the blog hop list and joining me here at Decorative Inspirations too. Welcome! She is so insanely creative and just loved how her tea time tray came out. Loving the vintage charm.
There is something so relaxing about having an afternoon tea. I always use the time to relax my mind and reset for the rest of the day. I may only get 15 minutes, with my busy schedule, but it is worth every minute!
This afternoon tea tray is not just decorative as it is functional. I did make an actual pot of tea for this post and after all the picture taking was done, I most certainly sat down and enjoyed. I did not fill up my creamer, only because I was having a green tea and I do not like cream unless it is with darker tea.
My tea of choice was a green tea, Japanese Sencha, by Harney & Sons. The biscotti cookies were a cranberry almond and made by Thinaddictives.
Speaking about Tea! Be sure to check out my new Tea Time Gossip series, where I dish the tea on everything from behind the scene looks at all my upcoming projects, Featured bloggers, DIY’s, Garden talk and more.
Vintage Tea Set
I dug out my great grandmother’s Japanese tea set to style my afternoon tea tray. I had it boxed up in the attic for a few years, all because I had nowhere really to put it. But now that I am almost done updating my china cabinet, I figured it would be the perfect time to open up the boxes and get the set all cleaned up.
I almost forgot how beautiful the tea set was! Kinda of an iridescent mix of purple and blue with a tan terracotta finish in the inside and trimmed in black. Cheerful and perfect for spring.
Spring Inspired
I have been enjoying a couple weeks of nice weather, so I decided to style my tea tray with a Spring inspired look. I added a birds nest with speckled eggs, bright yellow and purple flowers and two little hummingbirds.
I had found these cute house framed shelves at Walmart on clearance and thought they were adorable. I have no intentions of using them as shelves on a wall as of yet, but I really liked how the larger one looked on my tea tray. Kinda pulled the whole Spring look I was going for together.
Effortless and Beautiful
This tray literally only took about 15 minutes to put together. Probably would have took less time but getting those hummingbirds tied on the house shelf just right took a tiny bit of finessing. I am so excited to enjoy it!
If you drink tea often, styling a personalized tea tray to use, will surely brighten up your day. Not to mention everything that you need for tea is right there all together. I can easily move this tray from my kitchen counter to a table now, when I am ready for tea.

Meagan, I adore lusterware though I don’t own any myself! The metallic glaze lets light play across the pieces and give them such depth. How lucky you are to have your great-grandmother’s set. I love that you used iconic spring-themed items with your tea set. Happy touring with you!

So pretty! And I love that you actually utilize your tea set for yourself. So many won’t do that unless it’s a special occasion. But what’s more special than taking time for yourself?
