Create the Best Thrifted Fall Wreath for your Front Door

Well friends, my two favorite things have come together in one DIY wreath! The love of fall decorating and the love of thrift store shopping. Since you never know what you will find while thrifting or antiquing, you never know if a new project is waiting for you. That is exactly what happened to me with this thrifted fall wreath.

My Thrifted Basket of Joy!

I was so excited to stumble upon this slightly beat up fall wreath. It had so much potential and there was no way I could leave the store without it. I also had no intentions of updating another fall Wreath for a post, but sometimes you just have to go with the flow when something like this falls in your lap. No pun intended there!

Around the time I bought this thrifted wreath, I was also starting to work on my fall front porch (coming soon!) and was pulling together a lot of black and white Fall accents. My 3yr son is very scared of the dark this year and we have to keep it kinda PG for Halloween. So, since I will not be pulling out all my spooky stuff, I wanted to create a wreath that would work for the fall season, but would also capture some of the essence of Halloween too.

To make that happen I picked up some black and white; feathers, pumpkins and striped ribbon!

I had a bouquet of flowers, that I had previous used in my post; Affordable Fall Decorating Ideas and figured it would be perfect for my new front door wreath.

I began by disassembling most of the wreath, so I could start fresh and really get a feel for what I had to work with.

I used wire cutters to pull my bouquet apart and began updating, mixing with some of the old and new together. I had so much fun playing around with it and in minutes, it started to look like an entire new wreath.

But, I was not even close to being done. This was just the beginning! You must be thinking what else is this lady going to do?

I still had my white and black feathers to add in. They brought such a fun Halloween feeling to the wreath, which is what I really wanted.

Then I wired some of the extra mini gingham and white pumpkins into the wreath.

Finally, it was filled up and looking incredible.

Lastly, I made a bow from the ribbon I bought and added it to the lower front of the basket. I was happy with how it complimented the feathers and gingham pumpkins.

Now was I done? Nope! But almost done.

I thought to myself, this wreath would look amazing if it would light up every night on my front door. So I grabbed some copper fairy lights that have a timer and made it happen. I twisted them throughout the wreath and all around the handle of the basket.

Okay, now I was done and so very happy with how this thrifted wreath came out.

Works so well with my yellow front door!
